Burial

Pennsylvania State Pet Memorial & Cemetery
(Formerly Golden Lake Pet Memorial Gardens)

Some may not understand the great sense of loss that families feel when their pet passes on. We certainly do. While we cannot bring your pet back, we can help you deal with the loss by offering the opportunity to remember your pet and provide you with a final resting place that will honor an memorialize your fond memories forever.

The Pennsylvania State Pet Memorial & Cemetery is located on 5 acres on the outskirts of Mechanicsburg, PA. It also is the home of the PA State Memorial. Every year many pet owners entrust the PA State Pet Memorial & Cemetery with their pet's earthly remains (cremated remains or full body burial).

It is a place of peace, serenity, and comfort. You are invited to walk through the tranquil gardens and read inscriptions that have been placed on markers and other memorials as well as relax by the water features or on benches located throughout the property. Many owners return to their pet's resting place each year where they reminisce and recapture precious memories.

Formal burial
For some pet owners, cremation is not an option. For these families, formal burial is much more acceptable. Formal burials include a high quality pet casket, a standard marker, a private lot with perpetual care, a certificate of burial, and pick up service from your home or animal hospital, if requested.

Viewing
While not required, viewing your pet prior to burial may help with the grieving process for many. A traditional funeral at the cemetery includes: Viewing the pet in a private room where a few moments of peace and solitude may be spent and then the family will proceed to the cemetery for the burial.

Garden of Meditation
This section of the cemetery is nicely landscaped to create a peaceful setting for the final laying to rest of your beloved pet. This section of the cemetery requires a casket and allows for any style of marker to include upright, pillow, flat, or natural stone. This section allows for hanging flower baskets, flower vases, or cut or artificial flowers.

Garden of Serenity
This section of the cemetery is highlighted by a gazebo containing a memorial wall and has several trees with benches where you can sit and reflect on the good times you spent with your pet. The difference between this section and the Garden of Meditation is that all markers must be a grass style marker that lies flush with the ground. These markers must be made of granite or bronze. Only hanging flower baskets are allowed in this section.

Garden of Gentle Giants
This section of the cemetery is for larger, companion pets such as horses, mules, donkeys, llamas, goats, etc… Each pet has a private grave but no casket is required. Any style of marker is allowed to include upright, pillow, flat, or natural stone.

Garden of Companions
This section of the PA State Pet Memorial is for the internment of a pet's cremated remains with your cremated remains interred in a garden urn. This is the only service of its kind in Pennsylvania.

Home Burial
For some people, there is the option of home burial. This allows the family to have a quiet place in their back yard where their pet will be buried to keep their pet close to them. For families that decide that this is the option for them, sometimes the difficulty encountered when digging a grave can be very trying.

For this reason, we can provide a small backhoe and operator to prepare the grave for interment, which can help alleviate considerable stress for you and your family.

To provide this service we would require the client to contact PA-Call-One at 1-800-242-1776 because we cannot afford to damage underground telephone, power, gas or water lines. So before we can dig, call the underground line location service for information. It will save you money and lots of unnecessary trouble.

We can also provide you with caskets, markers, and specialty products for home burial.

If you would like to arrange a home burial, please call 1-877-738-3863 or (717) 691-0880.
